MY STORY · IN MY OWN WORDS

I was always the one
who dreamed big.

I was the third of four children, the youngest of three daughters, with two older sisters and a younger brother. Raised in an Indian Air Force family, home was never limited to one place. Every two years, my father’s postings took us to a new city, a different culture and another way of seeing the world.

That constant movement made me curious, adaptable and deeply observant. Long before I was old enough to judge people, I was learning to understand them: their choices, their struggles and the many different ways they created their lives.

Even then, I noticed the difference between people who moved through life with intention and those who simply allowed life to happen to them.

I grew up believing that our future is not something we must passively wait for; we have a part in creating it. That belief still shapes everything I do today. More than anything, I want every woman I reach to recognise that power within herself, and to know that, at any age, she can choose who she is still becoming.

THE TELEVISION YEARS

A voice. A vision.
A world of stories.

Dubai did more than give my ambition room to grow; it showed me what becomes possible when vision is met with courage.

My television journey began in 2004, at a time when very little locally produced content spoke directly to the South Asian diaspora in the Middle East. In 2005, I stepped into the spotlight as second runner-up at Gladrags Mrs. India and founded Queen Bee Production with a vision to create original, high-quality programming for the region and beyond.

Under that banner, I launched High Life Dubai, a first-of-its-kind lifestyle show that made me a familiar face across the Middle East and helped pioneer a new era of local television content for the South Asian community.

One show became eight. Over 15 years in television and media, I created and produced programs broadcast across leading regional channels and interviewed more than 5,000 people, from celebrated artists and entrepreneurs to global visionaries and political leaders.

Those conversations became an education in humanity. Meeting people from different cultures, backgrounds and walks of life expanded my understanding of success, struggle and what it truly means to live well. Television gave me a voice, but listening to thousands of stories helped me discover the deeper purpose behind it.

By every outward measure, I was living the high life I had once dreamed of. There were awards, recognition and extraordinary opportunities. I became known as the woman who worked hard, dreamed big and made things happen.

Yet beneath the lights, the accolades and the relentless momentum, another story was quietly beginning, one that would eventually turn my attention inward and transform the direction of my life.

The most important change
began within.

THE TURNING POINT

I longed to pause.
And simply be.

From the outside, it appeared that I had arrived. My career was flourishing, my work was recognised and the business I had built continued to grow. Yet somewhere along the way, achievement had become the place where I looked for security, happiness and proof of my worth.

The pace that had once exhilarated me began to exhaust me. Stress quietly entered my body, my thoughts and my personal life. Even when I was surrounded by success, something within me no longer felt successful.

People encouraged me to keep going. Why would I step back when I was at the top of my game? But beneath the praise and momentum, a question kept returning:

Was I truly living my life, or simply performing it very well?

I realised that I had become so focused on building a successful life that I had stopped experiencing it. I was rushing from one achievement to the next, postponing rest, fulfilment and wellbeing for a future moment that never seemed to arrive.

Stepping away from a highly visible career felt risky, but continuing to abandon myself felt riskier. So I turned the curiosity that had guided thousands of interviews inward. I began examining my own life: how I ate, moved and rested; the thoughts I repeated; the emotions I carried; and the habits that shaped how I felt each day.

The further I explored, the clearer the connection became: the way I cared for myself influenced everything, my energy, my confidence, my relationships, my work and the way I moved through the world.

What I had spent years searching for through achievement was not waiting outside me. Wellbeing was not a reward to earn after the work was finished. It was the foundation from which a meaningful life had to be built.

And so, from the red carpets and bright lights of television, my journey turned inward, not away from ambition, but towards a more conscious, sustainable and deeply fulfilling way of living.

A DIFFERENT KIND OF SUCCESS

From go-getter
to go-giver.

What began as a personal search for a better way to live gradually became the purpose behind my work.

I pursued formal education and became a Certified Holistic Health & Wellness Coach and Skin Coach, while continuing to train in Face Massage, Face Yoga, Facial Gua Sha, Facial Cupping and Facial Reflexology. I wanted to understand not only how we look as we age, but how our habits, thoughts, emotions and everyday choices shape the way we feel and live.

In 2017, I brought my storytelling into the digital world through The Uma Show. What began as a place to share what I was learning grew into a global platform reaching millions of women searching for a more honest, holistic and empowering approach to beauty and wellbeing.

As the work grew, so did the ways I could serve. I co-founded Pro-Age Aesthetics Academy to educate holistic beauty practitioners around the world. I created Alchemy Ritual to place intentional beauty tools into women’s hands, and The Alchemy Ritual Atrium to give them the guidance, practice and community needed to create lasting change.

Today, my work brings together holistic beauty, movement, nourishment, mindset, nervous-system regulation, education and daily ritual. I do not believe ageing powerfully is about fighting time or trying to become a younger version of yourself. It is about remaining connected to your face, your body, your confidence and the woman you are still becoming.

I continue to learn, question and evolve, and I share that journey honestly. My role is not to prescribe one perfect way to live, but to help each woman understand herself more deeply and make choices that honour her individual needs, rhythm and stage of life.

Becoming a go-giver did not mean losing my ambition. It meant redefining success: from how much I could achieve for myself to how much knowledge, confidence and possibility I could help awaken in others.

That journey is still unfolding.

MY STORY IS STILL UNFOLDING

A life lived well.
From the inside out.

For me, ageing powerfully begins with how we care for ourselves: with the thoughts we nurture, the rituals we return to and the space we make for wellbeing. I want more women to feel confident in who they are, and in who they are still becoming.

Be gentle with yourself. Make room for what matters. And keep becoming.
